COUNSELLING

About me
Half the work in counselling is in the relationship. You won't want to open up to someone you don't feel comfortable with, so here is a bit about me, who I am, why I am here. If you feel comfortable with what you read here, then please consider getting in touch

My story
The murmuration of the starlings in Autumn is one of my favourite gifts from nature. I can't think of much else that shows the power of individuals coming together so elegantly. I find it mesmerising. I remember watching them through a dirty train window and breathing it in, and feeling like I was sinking into my own skin. It was 6pm and for the first time that day I felt like myself, and I knew something had to change. I felt I was missing out on living. I had spent too many years feeling slightly off balance, not being myself and so I decided to do something about it.
Five years with a lot of counselling and retraining later, I am now a qualified counsellor with the BACP, helping others shake off that feeling that something isn't right, finding bits of themselves they'd forgotten about or didn't know they had, and finding joy in their life. I can't explain the buzz I get from seeing people regain the hope they once had, feeling brave enough to speak up for themselves, or simply being able to feel happiness again. Life wears us down. At times I felt like I didn't know where I belonged, I didn't know what my purpose was and I didn't know how to claim what I wanted, if I even knew what that was.

My journey through counselling taught me to stop apologising for taking my own space, it taught me how strong I was, it taught me who I really was, and it taught me how to live my life authentically. To be happy, and now I love helping others do the same.

If you have come looking for counselling, it is likely that something isn't sitting right with you.
I could list 100 types of issues that I can help you with, but what I consider to be overwhelm may not be what you consider it to be.
I have the most beautiful neon yellow trainers, but they were sold as green. We don't all use the same words for the same feeling, so rather than risk excluding you for the sake of a label, l am not going to list them all
Whether you already have a label for what you are feeling, shame, guilt, overwhelm, anxiety, OCDs or intrusive thoughts, or you're still trying to figure out what's going on, you have taken the first step for yourself in getting here, so please act on that and take the next step to get in touch.

It might just take that singular action to feel better, or it might lead to counselling and it takes a bit longer. Either way, it's already begun in just starting your search.
